Students of Masaka Secondary School pose with some of their gifts

We have A LOT of good news for you.

First up, the Masaka project is complete! This has been a long project that has stretched us in every way. The outcome is worth it. This week we officially handed over the well to Masaka SS. In attendance was the headmistress, her 4 assistants, the school board, as well as the patron of Scripture Union, the pastor, and 50 students.

Second, We have new members on our team! Jovia and Emma have joined us as interns. They’re enthusiastic about everything Sychar. Alvin, who’s been with us longer, joins them to tell us about the Masaka project, and the handover we had this week.

Jovia

My time at Masaka Secondary School with Sychar Springs International was both humbling and inspiring. Being fresh to Sychar , I got to see first hand how the solar powered water project changes lives.
I got engage myself in different activities with the rest of the staffs as they were accomplishing the project. It was amazing to see the joy on students faces knowing the now have safe ,clean water right at school.

Beyond providing clean water, this project showed me how Sychar Springs lives out of its mission of serving both the physical and spiritual need of the people/community.

Personally I left Masaka SS with a deeper appreciation for how small acts of service can transform an entire community. I am grateful to Sychar for letting me be part of this life changing project.

Emma

Our team successfully completed the Masaka SS well project aimed at providing a sustainable source of clean water to the school fraternity. Throughout the project, I participated in planting of flowers, painting, fixing taps, taking photos ,shooting videos, editing photos and rising the banner to ensure that everything met the required standards.

This experience allowed me apply practical skills, problem solving, teamwork and technical skills while working closely with other team members which was both rewarding and educational.

Alvin

The internship has opened my eyes to the power of purposeful work. I am incredibly proud to have played a part in the Masaka project, and I am deeply grateful to the entire Sychar Springs family for making this journey so rewarding. We are truly making a difference!

Having gone to high school right here in Uganda, this project hit very close to home for me. I know firsthand what it means for a school to run out of water. When water is not there, it is a complete disaster. It disrupts learning, compromises health, and halts daily life.

Seeing Sychar Springs actively step in to solve these critical water challenges made me realize that we aren't just installing systems; we are genuinely transforming lives.

Providing reliable water to communities and schools restores dignity and security to students who, just like I once did, deserve a safe environment to learn.
Watching a community’s anxiety turn into relief and joy when clean water flows is an experienceI will carry with me forever.

Conclusion

Thank you once again for your support in making this a reality.
